Travelling Light

The game now needs a lot less memory on computers, every device shares the same sky, and robes finally look like cloth.

Lighter on your computer

  • About 40% less memory on PCs, Macs and the Steam Deck. After loading into the world the game used to hold around 1 GB; it now needs under 600 MB. That means fewer slowdowns, and fewer crashes on machines that were running short.
  • No more stutter when you point at things. The highlight around trees, rocks and people used to be built the first time you hovered each one, which caused a small hitch. It's now drawn instantly, every time.

One sky everywhere

  • Low settings and phones get the real clouds. The same drifting clouds that catch the sun and follow the weather on Medium and High now float over every device, in place of the flat painted ones.

Clearer outlines

  • A bold outline around what you point at and your target, on every setting and device: yellow for people and things you can gather, red for anything hostile.
  • Ink outlines are part of the look, so they're always on now. You can still make them thinner or thicker in Settings.

Fixes

  • Robes and skirts aren't see-through any more. You used to see through the front of the cloth to its inside.
  • The wizard's hat has no gap where the tip meets the crown.
  • Great helms and some boots no longer show a hole when seen from above or below.
