Patch

Day, Night and Handhelds

A small round for handheld players and for anyone whose internet drops, plus a way to tell how long the daylight has left.

Day and night

  • A sun and moon on the compass. A small cap at the end of the compass strip shows the sun by day and the moon by night, and its ring empties as the day or night runs out. Hover it to see when night falls or first light comes.

Handhelds and controllers

  • Tapping menus works on handheld touchscreens. On a ROG Ally or Steam Deck, tapping a button in a menu highlighted it without pressing it. A tap now presses what you touched, and dragging a slider follows your finger.
  • The camera no longer freezes after pressing a button. On some handhelds a button arrives as the Enter key, which opened the chat box and stopped the right stick from turning the camera. Pushing a stick now closes an empty chat box.
  • A tip when your buttons aren't reaching the game. If your handheld is sending its buttons as keyboard and mouse (Steam Deck's desktop layout, or Armoury Crate's desktop mode), the game now tells you how to switch it to Gamepad.
  • A tip when the browser can't read your controller. If a controller is connected but your browser can't read its layout, the game says so instead of quietly ignoring it.

Connection

  • A clear screen when you're offline. Whispered Scrolls needs an internet connection, and the game now says so plainly when yours drops, with a Reconnect button. It also reconnects by itself as soon as you're back online. Short blips still show the small reconnecting banner.
  • Opening the game with no connection now shows the same screen instead of a broken page, and loads the game when your connection returns.
