Patch

Creatures jump too

Changed

  • Agile creatures follow you over fences and streams. Wolves, big cats, deer, spiders, goblins, bandits, skeletons (and, for small hops, rats and chickens) now leap the fences, low walls, crates and narrow streams you can jump. Watch for the crouch: they coil for a split second before they spring, so you can read it and turn to fight or roll as they land.
  • Big and heavy creatures still go round. Boars, bears, crabs, zombies, slimes and goblin brutes cannot jump: they walk round, and if there is no way round they stand at the fence glaring at you and soon give up and head home (fully healed, so hitting them from behind a fence gets you nothing). Ogres, golems, treants and other giants simply step over knee-high fences, and flying creatures pass over low clutter.
  • Archers and casters do not bother jumping. They shoot over the fence instead.
  • Creatures chase you much farther. A creature now follows a fight up to about 680 m from where it lives (it used to give up after about 34 m; bosses keep about 20x their old range too). Running away is no longer a reset by itself: get out of reach and stay there for about 25 seconds, put an obstacle between you that it cannot cross, or reach a town. Creatures never follow you into a town: they stop at the edge and head home. A creature that gives up still runs home fully healed and cannot be hurt on the way, as before.
