Patch

A guided first quest

Added

  • A guided first quest. New characters get a short step-by-step guide right after arriving in Wickhaven: walking, looking around, freeing the cursor, following the quest tracker, talking to people, equipping your weapon, attacking, using an ability and reading your health and focus. Each step ends when you do it, glowing rings show where to look, and an arrow points at your next goal. Skip it any time, or replay it from Tutorial in the Esc menu.
  • Server announcements show in the middle of the screen as a large banner (restart warnings too), and still appear in chat.

Changed

  • Bows look natural in combat. You carry the bow low with your arms swinging as you walk or run, and raise it only to shoot.
  • Tidier top of the screen. Pickups, invites and tips stack in one column under the compass, clear of the target frame and the zone and quest banners.
  • Chat remembers your channel. Chat stays on the last channel you picked (or typed a channel command for) until you switch, even after closing chat or logging out.
  • Loot window: smaller text, and it now opens halfway between your cursor and the right edge of the screen.

Fixed

  • The controls card now shows for new players who haven't started walking yet, and closing it on one character no longer hides it from your new characters.
  • Boats on the character select screen float on the water instead of sinking under it.
  • Height in the character creator is easy to see: the figure grows and shrinks against a fixed gauge beside it.
