Patch

Smoother crowds, menus and maps

Added

  • Anti-aliasing setting. Settings > Graphics now lets you choose how jagged edges are smoothed: Off, FXAA, SMAA, MSAA 2x or MSAA 4x. Low uses FXAA by default, which is much lighter on older laptops. Medium and High look the same as before.
  • Copy diagnostics. A button in Settings > Graphics and the /diag chat command copy a short report on your PC and how the game is running, ready to paste into a bug report. Bug reports sent from the game include it automatically.
  • Detailed FPS meter. The FPS meter key now cycles off, small and detailed. The detailed view adds a frame-time graph. You can also turn it on in Settings > Interface.

Changed

  • A clearer quality preset row. Settings shows Auto, Low, Medium and High as separate buttons with exactly one selected, and a note underneath says what Auto detected and which preset it is using. Option buttons in the Graphics settings are no longer cut off, and rows with five choices fit on one line.
  • Fewer hitches around crowds. When you arrive somewhere busy, creatures and mounts appear over a few frames, nearest first, instead of all at once. Bandits and cultists are much cheaper to show; their outfits no longer vary slightly in colour from one to the next.
  • Smoother gathering. Felling a tree, mining a rock or picking a herb no longer causes a small stutter, and standing still in towns and forests costs less.
  • Character windows open without a pause. Equipment, Inspect and NPC conversations reuse one character view instead of setting up a new one every time. The turntable turns at 30 fps, and the conversation portrait holds still after a moment.
  • Item icons fill in without freezing the bank, vendor and loot windows, and are remembered between sessions.
  • Smoother exploring. The fog of war on the map and minimap now updates only around newly explored ground, and the world map paints in gradually instead of in one long pause.

Fixed

  • Night-time lamp shadows of trees and buildings are now drawn correctly.
