Patch

Mounts, a real combat meter and more

Added

  • Mounts. Press G and stand still for a moment to call your mount, and press G again to get off. Riding makes you faster, starting at +20% with your first mount. Faster mounts will follow for higher levels, up to +50%.
  • Your first mount: the Moorland Pony. Odile Fairweather, the stablemaster at Reedlight Inn on the Lamp Road between Wickhaven and Silverford, has lost a pony. Bring Bramble back from the river reeds in Hoofbeats on the Lamp Road and she's yours.
  • Mounts don't fight. Attacking, using an ability, rolling or taking a hit throws you from the saddle, and you also get off for deep water, buildings, gathering and crafting. You can't call your mount in combat.
  • Track up to five quests at once. Use the new Track / Stop tracking button in your journal (J). Every tracked quest shows on your HUD with its objectives and has markers on the minimap, the world map and in the world. Click a quest in the tracker to point the compass at it.
  • Report a bug without leaving the game: press F8 (or choose Report a Bug in the Esc menu). The game takes a screenshot and includes where you were and what you were doing, so you only need to describe what went wrong.
  • Foliage distance option in Settings > Graphics, from Low to Max. Max draws grass, flowers and bushes all the way out to your full draw distance.
  • The combat meter has a Damage taken section (switch it on in Settings > Interface) showing what you and your party took, blocked, parried, soaked and dodged.
  • Click any name in the combat meter for a breakdown by ability: share, hits, crit rate, biggest hit and overhealing. Damage taken splits by enemy, attack and damage type. Pick an earlier fight from the list, or switch to Overall.

Changed

  • Your story starts on the Wickhaven quay with First Light at Wickhaven. A Murmur in the Moor now comes later, when you carry Brother Ansel's letter to Warden Isolde in Hearthmoor. If you have already started it, nothing changes for you.
  • One bank grid. The bank's top tabs are gone: it is a single scrollable grid. New characters start with 80 slots and can buy 40 more at a time at any bank. Existing banks keep every slot they had and every item stays put; press Sort to tidy items from the old tabs together.
  • New melee swings for every weapon. Two-handed weapons have a proper heavy wind-up and a full-body arc, and swing trails now follow your weapon's actual path. Melee abilities look like what they do: Cleave sweeps, Lunge thrusts, Whirlwind spins.
  • Grass, flowers and bushes reach much further on High, and thin out gradually instead of popping in.

Fixed

  • Lamps light up from far away. At night, lamps, lanterns, braziers, campfires and lit windows glow as far as you can see, with a soft pool of light on the ground around them.
  • Closing your last open window with Esc puts you straight back into mouse-look, without an extra click.
  • The combat meter starts fresh for each fight instead of adding every fight together.
  • Your third melee hit plays its own finisher, and the blade connects on screen exactly when the hit lands.
  • Other players no longer look like they are casting a spell while winding up a melee ability.
