Patch

A larger Aethermere

Added

  • The world is twice as wide. Aethermere now spans about 6.4 km from coast to coast, with every region, river and peak where you remember it, only farther apart, and new ground in between: heather moors, pine uplands, birch and autumn woods, red-rock badlands, marram dunes and white chalk downs, blending gradually into one another instead of stopping at a line.
  • A new start on the south coast. New characters step off the Order's boat onto the quay at Wickhaven, a small harbour village with its own lamp, smithy, inn, bank and shop. Brother Ansel and the harbour folk teach the basics, then send you up the Lamp Road through Silverford to Hearthmoor Hollow.
  • Five new towns and two grown ones. Stonebrook (quarry town), Highpost (wind-post town), Kettlewell (the menders' well) and Fallowmere (the mere village) ring Hearthmoor, Silverford is now a market city on both banks, and Lampwatch is a walled Lamp city. Their banks, inns, smithies, shops and guild halls are buildings you can walk into.
  • Ports for the open sea. Wickhaven, Gull's Rest and Brasswater run ferries; three more harbours on the far coasts have docks and route boards for voyages that are not sailing yet.
  • Make any inn your home. Ask an innkeeper to "Make this my home" (free). Home Recall (it was Lodge Recall) takes you to your home's Lamp-stone. New characters start with Wickhaven as home; everyone else keeps Hearthmoor until they choose another inn.
  • Waking up nearer the fight. When you fall, you wake beside the nearest town Lamp-stone you have attuned, instead of always in Hearthmoor.
  • Danger by region, not by compass. Every region has its own level range, and some quiet regions hide dangerous pockets (marked by warning cairns). The roads out from Wickhaven still lead from easy country to hard.

Changed

  • Hearthmoor Hollow is now a quieter crossroads. Many of its traders and teachers moved out to the new towns nearby, so the plaza is easier to move through.
  • Your character and map come with you. Your position, charted map, attuned Lamp-stones and map pins are carried over to the larger world the first time you log in.
  • The Coast Road west of Wickhaven now goes round the lagoon on its sand bar instead of through the water.
