Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and William Ross ("we", "us") for playing Whispered Scrolls. By creating an account, playing as a guest, or connecting a Discord or Google account, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't play.
Who can play
You need to be at least 13 years old. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian should agree to these terms with you.
Your account
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
- One person per account. Don't share, sell, buy or trade accounts.
- Guest accounts live on one device. If you clear your browser data before saving the account with an email, Google or Discord, the guest and its progress can't be recovered.
- Tell us right away if you think someone else has got into your account.
How to behave
Whispered Scrolls is a shared world. Please don't:
- harass, threaten or bully other players, or use hateful or sexual language toward them;
- cheat, use bots or macros that play for you, exploit bugs on purpose, or use software that changes the game;
- buy or sell gold, items or characters for real money, or advertise doing so;
- scam other players, or pretend to be a moderator or one of us;
- spam chat, or pick character names that are offensive or impersonate someone;
- attack, overload or try to break into the game's servers, or collect other players' information.
If you find a bug that could be abused, report it from the game (F8) instead of using it. We appreciate it.
What we can do
To keep the game fair and friendly, our moderators can warn, mute or remove players from PvP, and we can suspend or close accounts that break these terms. Serious or repeated problems may mean an account is closed for good. If you think we got it wrong, talk to us on our Discord.
Items and gold
Everything in the game (characters, gold, items and progress) is part of the game, with no real-world money value, and we license it to you to use while playing. It isn't your property, and we may change, rebalance or remove things as the game develops.
The game is in development
Whispered Scrolls is in open alpha. Things will change, break and get fixed. We do our best to protect your progress, but we can't promise the game will always be available, error-free, or that nothing will ever be lost. We provide it "as is".
What you send us
Chat, character names, bug reports and suggestions are yours, but you give us permission to store, show and use them to run and improve the game. If you share an idea, we're free to use it without owing you anything.
Our side
The game, its art, music, writing and code belong to us. You can stream, record and share videos and screenshots of your own play. Please don't copy or redistribute the game itself.
Limits of our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, lost data or lost in-game items, and our total responsibility to you is limited to the amount you've paid us in the past twelve months (for a free game, that is nothing). Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.
Changes and ending
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we'll update the date and version above and ask you to accept it in the game. You can stop playing and ask us to delete your account at any time. We can end the service or your access as described above.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, USA, except where the law of the country you live in gives you protections that can't be overridden.
